Orthodontics for Children and Adolescents

In an age-appropriate, straightforward and engaging way, we answer questions about braces, fillings, discolouration and misaligned teeth, and provide specialist treatments tailored to children and adolescents.

How should I care for my braces?

Unfortunately, there is no maintenance service that visits several times a week to keep your braces in perfect condition while you relax (what a pity!). Looking after your braces is therefore your responsibility.

Orthodontics for Adults

In many cases, orthodontic treatment is not only an aesthetic choice but is also advisable for health reasons.

Correct tooth alignment supports comfortable chewing and helps prevent excessive strain on the bones and teeth. Properly aligned teeth are also easier to clean and keep healthy.

Several treatment options are available:

  • Fixed braces attached to the outer surfaces of the teeth
  • Aligner treatment using clear, removable plastic trays
  • Lingual braces attached only to the inner surfaces of the teeth, making them invisible from the outside

Treatment Process

Consultation and planning for treatment usually take place in two steps:

Step 1: Diagnosis

After an initial detailed consultation, the necessary diagnostic records are prepared with your consent, such as X-rays and models of your teeth.

Our orthodontic specialists then assess these records.

Step 2: Treatment Plan and Cost Estimate

At a second appointment, we explain the assessment results, the available treatment options and the associated costs.

If your health insurer covers the treatment costs, we will support you with the application.

Treatment

Depending on the extent of the planned corrections, treatment takes approximately six months to two years.

Regular check-ups are arranged throughout the treatment period.

TMJ Treatment

Temporomandibular joint problems can present in different ways, including pain, clicking or grinding in the jaw joint.

Clicking or grinding may be painful or painless. To prevent further damage, it is important to identify the cause accurately and select the appropriate treatment:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Guidance on self-treatment exercises and behavioural measures
  • Splint therapy or medication
  • TMJ lavage
  • TMJ arthroscopy
  • TMJ surgery

Dental Aesthetics

Our goal is to improve both function and aesthetics through orthodontic treatment.

Correct Tooth and Jaw Alignment Influences:

  • Chewing function
  • Speech
  • Breathing
  • TMJ function

Attractive teeth and a harmonious facial profile can have a positive effect on personal well-being and how we are perceived by others.

Fixed Braces

With fixed braces, small attachments known as brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected to one another.

This gradually corrects misaligned teeth over time.

Fixed braces can be used for adolescents and adults.

Aligners

Clear trays such as Invisalign are used to treat misaligned teeth. This system makes nearly invisible orthodontic treatment possible. The removable trays are transparent, easy to clean and individually made to fit over the patient’s teeth.

Aligners can be used to treat the following types of misalignment:

  • Crowding
  • Crossbite
  • Increased overjet
  • Underbite
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Diastema
  • Deep bite

Lingual Braces

With lingual braces, the fixed appliance is attached to the inner surfaces of the teeth so that it is not visible from the outside.

Miniscrews

Miniscrews are inserted into the jawbone and used to help correct tooth position. They are less noticeable than many other orthodontic aids and can support efficient treatment by providing a continuous point of force application.
